Relationships are one of the parts of life that can most rob us of our peace in the Holy Spirit. Our lives are all in some way impacted by one another. If I am counting on someone and they don’t come through, it can profoundly impact my circumstances. If I truly love someone and they wound, neglect, or reject me, it can undoubtedly hinder my ability to enjoy the peace of God. But God offers us peace in the midst of all circumstances. Jesus maintained peace in the Holy Spirit in the midst of those he loved shouting, “Crucify him!” (Luke 23:21). May God lead us today to a path of continual peace founded on his love and truth. When I read the above, I can relate to Craig because relationships gone wrong has robbed my peace. We are all different. We are affected by up-bringing, culture, etc, so sometimes it’s hard to blend in with the mixture. Disappointment causes me great sadness. It robs me of my peace. Also, being a sensitive one, I cringe when wounded – I want to act as Corky, my dog, did – when I would correct him. He would run and hide from me. It didn’t take long for me to find him and make the world better for his sweet soul. And, that’s what the peace of God does for me when I am under the circumstances of life and I run to Him for comfort and love.
