Just a thought by coppi

Romans 4:13  Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham & his descendants was not based on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.

Can you put yourself back in time and imagine Paul, a devout Jew steeped in the law sitting hunched over writing/dictating an explanation to the Jews & Gentiles that they just have to believe in Jesus & do not have to obey every tittle of the law to be saved.  We don’t have to do anything to earn salvation, we only have to have a right relationship with God that comes through faith.  In my imagination, I can visualize this little Jewish man who had this miraculous revelation of Jesus on his way to Damascus with an order from the High Priest to arrest any followers of the way (Christians) & bring them back to Jerusalem in chains.  He was even present when Stephen, a saintly man, was stoned to death.  Now, he was sold out to this Jesus he miraculous met & dedicated the rest of his days to bring the Good News to all. He was a fugitive, stoned & left to die, shipwrecked, thrown into a cold ugly dungeon, etc but once he met Jesus (Acts 9) nothing would prevent him from spreading the Good News, and what is the Good News, ‘Jesus died for you/me and rose from the grave so we may have eternal life’, and we do not have to earn it but only have to have faith & a right relationship with Him. Grace, is the word for it….wonderful grace.  Yes, simple – difficult if you feel you must earn it.  Grace vs Law made simple by the death & resurrection of Jesus.  “Only Believe   – only believe, all things are possible, if you only believe”……one of my deceased husband’s favorites.
